FAQ's

For purposes of eligibility for all T.I.P. classes and awards, a "Thoroughbred" is defined as any horse that has been registered with The Jockey Club (TJC) or a foreign Thoroughbred stud book recognized by TJC.
We have introduced a T.I.P. Number to make proof of eligibility for T.I.P. classes and awards easier for owners, riders and horse shows.
In order to participate in a T.I.P. class or be eligible for a T.I.P. award, owners and riders must obtain a T.I.P. Number. The T.I.P. Number card should be provided to participating horse shows as proof of eligibility. To obtain a T.I.P. Number, please go to
My Account. There is no charge for a T.I.P. Number.
You can look up your number and reprint a T.I.P. card anytime by logging into your account at My Account.

If you need to
edit the spelling of an owner or rider name, please email tjctip@jockeyclub.com. Include the horse's T.I.P. Number, registered name, show name, owner name and corrected spelling.

If you need to
change ownership for a T.I.P. Number under the same T.I.P. account, please send proof of transfer to tjctip@jockeyclub.com or have the horse's owner as listed on the current T.I.P. card email tjctip@jockeyclub.com to request the change. Include the horse's T.I.P. Number, registered name, show name, and new owner name.

If you are the
new owner of a horse, please apply for a new T.I.P. Number.

If the owner/rider combination listed is correct but you need to move the T.I.P. Number to your T.I.P. account, please email tjctip@jockeyclub.com to request the move. Include the horse's T.I.P. Number, registered name, show name, owner name and new account name. If there is also an ownership transfer, provide proof of ownership change as noted above.
T.I.P. Numbers are horse/owner specific, so you should get a new T.I.P. Number for the horse. To obtain a T.I.P. Number, please go to My Account.
